Hot Tempered Baby Back Ribs with Sweet Guava

Create some sweet heat at your next barbecue with these mouthwatering ribs. The sweet flavors of brown sugar and guava jelly perfectly complement the zing of ginger, cinnamon, and red pepper. Serve with milder-mannered Sweet & Sassy Vanilla Slaw (pictured).

Cook Time: 1 hour 10 minutes

ingredients

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

2 teaspoons McCormick® Ginger, Ground

2 teaspoons McCormick® Garlic Powder

2 teaspoons seasoned salt

1 teaspoon McCormick® Red Pepper, Crushed

1/2 teaspoon McCormick® Cinnamon, Ground

3 to 4 pounds pork baby back ribs

1/4 cup water

1 cup guava jelly

directions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Mix brown sugar and spices in small bowl; reserve 2 tablespoons spice mixture. Rub remaining spice mixture on ribs; coat well. Place ribs in single layer on foil-lined roasting pan. Pour water into pan. Cover with foil.


2. Bake 1 hour or until meat starts to pull away from bones.


3. Meanwhile, mix jelly and reserved spice mixture. Brush ribs with jelly mixture.


4. Broil or grill over medium heat 3 to 5 minutes per side or until heated through and nicely browned.

Tips

Test Kitchen Tips:

  • To prepare ahead of time, ribs may be prepared up to Step. 2. Cool completely. Cover and refrigerate overnight. 
  • Guava jelly is available in the international aisle of grocery store.
